Chapter 4

It was the next day and I was so excited that I barely got any rest the other night. I was dressed in my cooliest looking clothes possible. I was wearing a black overjacket with a white tee inside. I kept the buttons unbuttoned to make myself look like I wasn't trying too hard. I wore regualr jeans, but I debated in my mind on whether I should sag them or not. I decided not to sag.

I didn't know it was so hard to sneak out of Yamaguchi without seeing or encountering one of my friends. On my way to the bridge, I bumped into Koki and Maru. They were waiting at the usual spot discussing whatever came to their mind. "Oh, Kame. Where are you going?" Koki asked as he saw me coming down the stairs of my apartment building.

I tried to turn around and ignore them, but it was just way too hard. So I took it like a man...and ran. Lying to him and Maru would just make me guilty, so running would solve everything. "Oi! Kame!" I heard Maru calling out.

I just dashed out of their sight. I didn't want to make it obvious that I was going to the bridge so I ran the opposite direction of it. "Yabe [Oh crap]," I mummbled as I sat down to rest. I started to pant really hard, trying to catch my breath.

"Oh, Kazu-kun," I heard someone call out from behind me.

I immediatly stood up and turned around to discover it was Jin. "Ah, Jin," I said surprised. "Doushita [What's up]?"

"Iya, betsuni [Not really anything]," he answered. "Kimi wa [What about you]?"

"Ore [Me]?" I said pointing at myself. I tilted my head and grinned. "Betsuni [Nothing really]."

"Ah, sou [I see]." He pointed ahead of us and asked, "Jaa [So] want to eat some ramen?"

"Ramen?" I closed my eyes and felt my stomach. I was so hungry. I didn't have enough time to eat breakfast since I was in such a rush. Eating ramen right now would be perfect. "Iya, daijoubu [No, I'm alright]," I lied.

"Hontou [Really]?" he asked not buying my lie. I nodded,  but my stomach growled. "Demo...[But...]"

"Iya. Hontou ni daijoubu desu [No. I'm really alright]." I ran off and waved to Jin. "Bai bai [Bye-bye]."

After encountering Jin, I saw Ueda and Junno walking together to the ramen shop Jin had offered me to go to just earlier. I successfully avoided them with no problems. I finally reached the bridge connecting Yamaguchi and Kanakazu. I crossed the bridge unseen and finally reached the meeting place I was supposed to see Mokoto at.

After a few moments of waiting, Mokoto arrived. "Kamenashi-kun!" she called out as she ran towards me.

"Mokoto-chan." I stood up and put my arms at the side of my body.

Mokoto was wearing a simple sundress with a big hat. Even though her outfit was simple and plain, she still looked beautiful in it. "Did you wait long?" she asked.

"Iie [Nope]." I shook my head.

"Yokata [I'm glad]."

"Kore." I dug through my pocket and pulled the cute monkey out. "It's for you."

She stuck her hands out and I placed it on them for her to hold it. "Kawaii [Cute]~" she said just as cute as the key chain. "Arigatou," she thanked bowing.

"Iya, betsuni [No, it was nothing]." I bowed too.

"Jaa...[So...] I'll be going," she said and turned around.

"Ah, matte [Ah, wait]," I called without thinking.

She turned around to face me again. "Hai [Yes]?"

"If it's okay with you," I started, but I suddenly got nervous, "can we meet again?" I bowed with my eyes close, waiting for her reply.

"Ii yo [It's okay]," she answered casually.

I raised my head. "Eh? Hontou ni [Really]?"

"Hai. Ii yo [Yeah. It's okay]." She took her phone out. "What's your number?"

"Ah, chotto matte [wait a minute]." I took my phone out and called her. "There, now my number is in your phone."

"Hai. Arigatou." She typed in my name and then closed her phone. "So when do you want to meet?"

"Ashita? Iin desu ka [Tomorrow? Is that okay]?"

"Hai. Doko [Yeah. Where]?"

"What about Yamaguchi?"

"Hai [What]?" she said confused.

"Yamaguchi. It's a city. The place where I live. Shiranai [You don't know]?" I explained.

"Shirane [I don't know it]," she answered shaking her head.

"Hontou ni [Really]? It's the city connected by one of the bridges."

"Bridges?"

"You don't know about the bridges either? There are three bridges that connect Kanakazu to three little cities. Yamaguchi being one of them."

"Shirane [I don't know it]."

I sighed in disappointment, but then an amazing idea struck me. "Ah, wakata [Ah, I know]!" I pointed at the sky, and then tapped my head as if I was a genius.

"Nani [What]?" she questioned a little worried.

"Ashita [Tomorrow]," I told her.

"What about it?"

"Tomrrow I'll show you around Yamaguchi. I'll take you to it's famous parks and stuff like that."

She bit her lips in doubt. "I don't know..."

"Dame [No good]?" I asked with a feeling of rejection.

"No, it's not that. It's just...I'm no good with parks. I'm not so outgoing," she admitted.

"Daijoubu [It's alright]," I assured her. "Kinishitenai de [Don't worry]."

She looked at me with scared eyes. "Hontou [Really]?"

"Hai!" I grabbed onto her shoulders, forcing her to look at me. "Leave everything to me!"
